Garden Jobs for March

1. Cut back hard trees like Cornus (Dog Wood), grown for their winter coloured stems.
2. Finish pruning Roses.
3. Plant onion sets and shallots when ground is in suitable condition.
4. Hoe round borders and have a general tidy up.
5. Cut back hard late flowering shrubs such as Buddleia and Lavatera.
6. Prepare ground for sowing new or patching up lawns.
7. Sow crops of Peas and Broad Beans.
8. Top up container grown plants with fresh compost.
9. Plant up new strawberry beds.
10. Feed newly planted trees and shrubs with a slow release fertilizer.
